The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has confirmed it will issue refunds to students who were incorrectly charged higher amounts while applying for post-result services following their Class 12 examinations. The development comes after the Board identified technical glitches in its online payment system that led to overcharging.
Students across India, including those from Bihar where lakhs of candidates appear for CBSE examinations annually, had complained about discrepancies in the fees charged for services such as verification of marks and rechecking of answer scripts. The Board has now initiated a systematic review to identify all affected students and process refunds directly to their accounts.
CBSE officials stated that the refund process would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, and students need not submit separate applications for the same. The amounts will be credited to the accounts from which the original payments were made. This incident has raised concerns about the reliability of digital infrastructure in managing large-scale educational processes.
For Bihar students preparing for competitive examinations like UPSC, BPSC, and SSC, accurate mark sheets are crucial for application processes. Education experts have advised students to verify their payment receipts carefully and contact CBSE helplines if they notice any irregularities. The Board has assured improved system checks to prevent such technical issues in future examination cycles.
