Mental health experts across India are increasingly highlighting the psychological benefits of simplified lifestyle choices, including wardrobe decisions, following observations from recent public events where prominent figures embraced understated fashion.

Dr Anjali Sharma, a clinical psychologist based in Patna, explains that the growing trend toward minimalist dressing can contribute to reduced decision fatigue and lower stress levels. "When individuals, particularly working professionals and homemakers in Bihar and other states, simplify their daily choices including clothing, it frees mental space for more important decisions," she noted.

Research from the Indian Institute of Mental Health suggests that excessive focus on appearance and complicated styling routines can contribute to anxiety, particularly among young adults. The 2023 study found that 42 per cent of surveyed individuals in urban areas reported feeling overwhelmed by fashion-related social pressures.

Public health advocates in Bihar have been promoting simplified living as part of broader mental wellness campaigns. The state's health department recently launched awareness programmes encouraging residents to adopt stress-reducing practices, including streamlined daily routines. Healthcare workers note that such lifestyle modifications, combined with adequate sleep and balanced nutrition, form essential components of preventive mental health care in communities across eastern India.
