Bollywood superstar Salman Khan took a playful jab at Varun Dhawan during a special event organised by PVR INOX on Saturday to celebrate the illustrious career of veteran filmmaker David Dhawan. The gathering saw the two actors share the stage, leading to some light-hearted banter about song remakes.

Khan, who has starred in several of David Dhawan's blockbuster comedies during the 1990s and early 2000s, humorously pointed out that Varun had recreated yet another one of his iconic songs. The comment comes amid ongoing discussions in the film industry about the trend of remixing classic Bollywood tracks, with the 'Chunari Chunari' controversy still fresh in public memory.

The festival paid tribute to David Dhawan's contributions to Hindi cinema, spanning over three decades of successful comedies. The filmmaker, known for his signature style of slapstick humour and family entertainers, has delivered numerous hits with Salman Khan, including 'Judwaa', 'Biwi No 1', and 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi'. His son Varun has followed in his footsteps, working with his father on films like 'Main Tera Hero' and the 'Judwaa' remake.

The event highlighted the cross-generational appeal of David Dhawan's cinema, which continues to resonate with audiences across India, including in states like Bihar where his films have enjoyed considerable popularity in both urban centres and smaller towns.
